Sometimes it can be hard to imagine the journey baby makes through the pelvis. Women and their partners often wonder exactly how the baby is going to go from inside to out!
This is a really useful video which demonstrates the jouney that the baby makes and how the baby twists and turns itself under the pubic bone and up over the coccyx- Imagine how much easier this journey would be if the woman was standing up!
The baby would have gravity on it’s side, and the coccyx bone would tip back out of the way so that the baby didn’t have to negotiate it’s way around it! 95% of women’s pelvises are large enough for their baby to fit through them. Conditions such as gestational diabetes affect the mothers ability to birth her baby, but most babies are engineered to move through their mother’s pelvis.
